South Coast Air Quality Management District

Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is the nation's largest local air pollution control agency, covering the greater Los Angeles area. The agency is in charge of air monitoring, air quality planning, regulation of stationary and some mobile sources of air pollution, and development of clean air technologies. Because motor vehicles are the main cause of smog in the region, SCAQMD has long supported and promoted the development and use of alternative fuels and clean vehicles. SCAQMD sees fuel cell vehicles as a key to achieving healthful air in the region.
