California Department of Food and Agriculture
To fulfill part of California Department of Food and Agriculture’s mission, the Division of Measurement Standards maintains and preserves the state’s standards of measurement, promotes equity in the marketplace and provides citizens a basis of value comparison. Rigorous inspection of the accuracy of fuel dispensing devices and quality analyses of fuel and automotive products protects consumers and provides confidence in the marketplace.
In 2005, Senate Bill 76 required the Department to establish hydrogen fuel quality specifications. The Division partners with stakeholders to establish uniform dispenser specifications, test procedures, methods of sale, labeling and advertising requirements, fuel sampling and laboratory analyses methodology.
